CONFIRMED cases of coronavirus in Northumberland increased by 61 on Wednesday as the UK recorded the most deaths in a single day so far.
Public Health England said there are now 272 confirmed cases of the virus in the county, an increase from 211 on Tuesday.
The Northumbria Healthcare Trust said 52 patients had died from the virus at its hospitals.
On Wednesday, the UK recorded 938 deaths from Covid-19 - the highest number of deaths in a single day so far.
There are 60,733 cases of coronavirus in the UK, which have lead to 7,097 deaths.
