A MAN who had denied sexual assault has been acquitted after no evidence was presented to the court.

Jake Lowdon (29), of Aydon Road, Corbridge, was due to stand trial in May at Newcastle Crown Court for sexual assault and common assault.

He had pleaded not guilty to both charges.

At a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday, the court heard that no evidence could be offered by the prosecution.

Mr Lowdon was acquitted of both charges.
