MORE than 200 positive coronavirus cases have now been confirmed in Northumberland.
Confirmed cases of the virus reached 188 on Sunday with a further 23 positive Covid-19 cases confirmed on Monday, rising to 211.
The news comes after the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said 38 patients who were being cared for in the trust’s hospitals who had tested positive for Covid-19 had died.
The trust said that all patients had underlying health conditions and were between the ages of 65 and 93.
The number of new coronavirus deaths in Britain dropped by 30 per cent on Monday to 439. Public Health England said there had been 51,608 positive cases in the UK with 5,373 deaths.
