A police helicopter was involved in the pursuit of a car
A POLICE helicopter was involved in the arrest of a man suspected of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Shortly after midnight, police pursued a red Peugeot from the A68 to Bridge End Industrial Estate, before the 25-year-old driver was arrested.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "The car was pursued to Bridge End Industrial Estate and, following a search of the area, with the assistance of the police helicopter, the driver was soon located and arrested.
"The 25-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and has been released under investigation."
