EVERYBODY loves a takeaway, whether it’s the British classic fish and chips, kebab, Chinese, pizza or Indian.

But the coronavirus lockdown has put paid to many people’s weekly treat as scores of fast food outlets temporarily close down to stop the virus from spreading.

So this week we asked readers of the News & Star on Facebook to give their views on the takeaways they are most looking forward to visiting after the pandemic.

Here in Cumbria we’re blessed with plenty of choice with some establishments being firm favourites.

So, in no particular order, here are some of the best takeaways in north and west Cumbria that you may like to try after the lockdown has been lifted.

1 HEAVENLY FISH AND CHICKEN, WHITEHAVEN

A very popular choice with readers waxing lyrical about what the chippy has to offer.

The chippy, in Market Place, gets the thumbs up from Donna Mckee and Natalie Wignall.

It announced however it was closing down to ride out the Coronavirus lockdown on March 23 but hopes to be open again as soon as it is safe to do so.

Nevertheless it’s been missed by residents.

2 THE PIZZA BRAVO, CARLISLE

Located on The Crescent in Carlisle City Centre, the takeaway is open seven days a week.

“Their kebab wraps are amazing.”
