NORTHUMBRIA Police have reassured rural residents that the ongoing coronavirus crisis will not affect resources in rural areas.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “We recognise that these times are concerning for everyone and we are working with key partners and members of the community to deliver a coordinated response.

“We would like reassure you, we do have resources that focus in the rural areas, including a dedicated rural response team who are led by rural response inspectors, together with neighbourhood inspectors supported by teams of neighbourhood police officers and police community support officers.

“This is a tough time for all our communities; however, we have a fantastic community spirit in Northumberland, especially so around the rural and farming community.

“We have heard of so many stories of acts of kindness around the county and we are sure as the weeks progress this type of community spirit will continue."
