A YOUNG girl has died following a collision with a vehicle in Corbridge on Monday morning.
Police received a report of a collision with a child at an address in the village at 9.20am.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said the girl received treatment at the scene and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where she died.
Inspector Dean Hood, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols unit, said: "This has been an extremely upsetting incident for everyone involved where a young girl has sadly lost her life.
"Inquiries are ongoing and an investigation is under way. The girl’s family are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers and our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time.”
