PEOPLE in Tynedale will be able to access skin treatments carried out by a medical professional with the introduction of a new skin clinic in Hexham.

Dr Wasif Razzaq, who runs Dr Wass Skin Clinic from Middlesbrough and Yarm, has begun running monthly sessions based from Physio and Therapy in Hexham.

Dr Wass, who qualified as a doctor in 2003, is a practicing GP alongside running his skin clinics.

Treatments he offers include anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, micro-needling and chemical skin peels. He also promotes ZO skin care to maintain skin health.

After taking an interest in skin, he completed a post graduate diploma in Dermatology at the University of Cardiff.

He said: “The reason I got into this is a lot of people doing it are not medically trained. At the minute it is an unregulated industry in the UK.

“That means someone with no knowledge of facial anatomy could be giving you an injection in to the face, which is a scary prospect.”

Dr Wass said he had trained with the renowned Harley Academy for Aesthetic Medicine.

“It’s a great thing when people say it has boosted their confidence,” he said.

“A lot of the work I do is quite natural and no-one goes out looking like a completely different person. I can’t promise people will go out looking like Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt but they will go out looking a better version of themselves.”
