Guy Opperman opened the post office, which has moved from the former Beales store to a new convenience store on Battle Hill.

Retailer, VPS, has opened Hexham Post Office and a micro convenience store, and group director Ash Singh said goody bags were presented to 100 customers on the open day.

Post Office services are provided from three serving positions, one modern screened and two open plan counters.

Mr Opperman said: “I am delighted that Hexham Post Office was able to relocate to this great new premises, with minimal disruption to the service for the local community.

“Huge credit to the Post Office, councillors, Ash Singh and his local staff team for all their hard working in making this transition such a success.”
