POLICE have warned Tynedale residents after reports of illegal door-to-door sales people operating around the district.

Northumbria Police's Neighbourhood Inspector Pam Bridges said the force had received two reports from members of the public who were concerned about women going door-to-door in Haydon Bridge trying to sell artwork.

Insp. Bridges said: “There has not been any reports of fraud, however, it is illegal to sell items door-to-door without a licence.

“If you are concerned about suspicious behaviour then we would always encourage you to contact police and you should never feel pressured into buying items – it is your right to ask them to leave.

“If you have vulnerable relatives, friends or neighbours then please stay vigilant, further advice can be found on the Northumbria Police website.”
