A COMMUNITY spirited football club has handed over more than £1,000 for people living with a condition which affects their brains and spinal cords.

Haydon Bridge United Football Club presented members of the South Northumberland branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MSS) with a cheque for just under £1,150.

The money was raised at the club’s annual charity night, which included live music, a raffle and an auction.

Half of the money raised went to the club’s many junior teams, and the other half to a charity of the committee’s choosing.

This year, the footballers chose to support MSS as committee member Jonny Flanagan works in the NHS with MS sufferer Zoe Awburn.

Both Zoe and her mother Michelle have the condition, and were grateful to collect the cheque.
