A ROAD in Prudhoe awaiting a major engineering project to improve its drainage has flooded again.
The area of Prudhoe near the railway crossing flooded on Monday following overnight snowfall.
A county council team had been dispatched to deal with the issue.
The road flooded during Storm Dennis last week and twice in a matter of weeks last year.
County councillor Gordon Stewart said: "The road is passable with care. It's at the bottom of a hill and all the water comes down it.
"The drains have collapsed and only a little water gets through. We've had cameras down there.
"We're going to have to build a new drainage system that will have to go under the railway. This has been a long term problem and will involve major and expensive engineering work to put it right.
"The funding has now been authorised to get it started in the next financial year."
