End of an era as Beales department store closes down
HEXHAM'S Beales store will close its doors for the final time tonight.
The administrators of Beales confirmed that February 24 would be the final day of trading for the Hexham store on Fore Street.
Beales went into administration last month and administrators KPMG said no offers had been received for the sale of the business.
The store in Hexham, which has been known as Hexham Outlet Centre since last year, is the first of Beales' 23 stores to be given a closure date after almost 140 years of trading in the town.
A spokeswoman for KPMG said the rest of the stores would also be preparing for closure.
