A MOTORIST has been banned from driving after admitting to getting behind the wheel while over the legal drink-drive limit.
Stephen Waugh (25), of High Edge Cottage, Haydon Bridge, appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court last Thursday and pleaded guilty to the charge of driving a motor vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that it exceeded the prescribed limit.
The court heard that, on Thursday, November 28, Waugh drove on North Bank, in Haydon Bridge, with 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.
Waugh was disqualified from driving for 16 months, which would be reduced by a total of 16 weeks if he successfully completed a driver rehabilitation course before December 20.
He was fined £200 and was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.
