EXCEPTIONAL contributes to combating the climate crisis will be rewarded in the Tyne Valley.

Ahead of the latest meeting of Hexham Town Council this week, the Mayor of Hexham, Coun. Bob Hull, launched an environmental award for the town as part of council’s sustainability action plan.

The action plan, agreed by councillors last year, includes the award and Coun. Hull is now inviting nominations of individuals or organisations based in Hexham for the inaugural award.

Coun. Hull said: “This will be given to an individual or organisation, school, community, business or food producer, that has made a significant contribution to improving environmental sustainability in Hexham”

Nominations for the award should be submitted in writing to Hexham Town Council at St Andrew’s Cemetery, West Road, Hexham, NE46 3RR by Friday, February 28.

The letter must include an explanation of how the organisation’s contribution has been made in the town.

The award will be presented to the recipient at the Mayor’s Spring Reception, to be held on Wednesday, March 25.

Further information about the environmental award is available from Hexham Town Council by visiting its website at www.hexhamtowncouncil.gov.uk or by phoning (01434) 609575.
