PEOPLE with a range of experiences are being encouraged to join the team leading the development of Hexham’s thriving arts centre.

Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, on Hexham’s Beaumont Street, is looking to appoint up to six people to its board. It comes as part of its planned cycle which involves refreshing the board regularly.

The board is made up of 12 members who are volunteers, whose responsibility it is to set strategy and ensure the company has the financial and staff resources it needs to meet its objectives.

Simon Haworth of the Queen’s Hall said: “We are looking to appoint up to six people and, through this campaign, want to ensure that we improve the diversity of our board so that it better reflects the communities we serve.

“In particular, we encourage applications from those who may not have served on a board before; having the broadest mix of skills and experience will make a real impact on the work we do.”

In recent months, the Queen’s Hall has secured more than £200,000 of investment from Arts Council England to develop its studio space and improve its backstage area.

Those who take on the new roles will support the centre’s ambitious plans to continue to grow its audiences, reach and the diversity of the programme it offers.

Applications can be made online on the Queen’s Hall website.
