A NORTH-EAST artist who specialises in painting portraits of miners will have her work displayed in a rather apt Tynedale location.
The work of Karen Thompson, from Great Lumley, is now on display in the Miners Lamp Cafe and Community Hub in Prudhoe.
Russ Greig, a trustee of the Friends of Eastwoods Park, which manages the cafe, hoped exhibiting Karen’s work would inspire youngsters to try their hand at art.
Russ said: “Being able to exhibit Karen’s work is a great opportunity for the friends and Miners Lamp to help support a budding artist.
“It highlights our industrial heritage through art for younger generations and hopefully inspire some local children to express themselves through art.”
Karen works primarily in pastel, but enjoys working in charcoal which lends well to miner’s portraits.
