AN application to revoke part of a sentence handed to a man who assaulted his girlfriend has been dropped.

Sean Hudspith (26) of Bellingham was sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm on December 23, after assaulting the woman at a caravan at Hareshaw Linn Caravan Park in August last year.

He is now serving 16 months in prison, and his sentence also included a restraining order and £1,000 in compensation to be paid to the victim.

However, at the victim's request, an application was made to the court to revoke the compensation and restraining order.

A hearing was scheduled for Monday at Newcastle Crown Court, but after she failed to appear to address the court, the judge, Recorder Nicholas Lumley, said Hudspith's sentence would remain the same.
