A MOTORIST got behind the wheel while above the legal drink drive limit on two separate occasions.

Johnathon Waugh (27), of High Edge Cottage, Haydon Bridge, pleaded guilty at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday to the two charges.

The court heard he had 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml in breath while driving on the A68 at Kiln Pit Hill on November 20 and 70mg while driving on the Military Road, at Hexham, on December 12. The legal limit is 35mg.

He was banned from driving for three years and fined £125 for each offence. He was given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £90 for the latter charge.
