Loveable Boxer Benji was forced to undergo treatment for angular limb deformity, having suffered an untreated broken leg.
The local community, touched by his story, rallied together to raise £1,800 towards the estimated £3,000 needed for the operation.
Generous dog lovers responded to the RSPCA’s appeal, with customers of the Hexham, Prudhoe and Rothbury branch contributing just over half of the total raised.
The remaining donations came from Frankham Fell kennels, near Fourstones, and local school girls Olivia Charlton (10) and Florence O’Brian (8). Tynedale Lions also responded to the RSPCA’S appeal and donated £500.
RSPCA trustee Jan Oversten said: “The support has been phenomenal, we are so appreciative.” Anyone interested in offering Benji a forerver home should contact rehoming officer, John Billany, on 07519876789.
