A MAN has been charged with fear of violence following an alleged incident in Hexham.

Joseph Rumney (45) of St Paul's Road, Hexham, was arrested on suspicion of affray in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 3am, February 1, officers arrested a man on suspicion of affray, after carrying out enquiries at an address in Hexham.

"Joseph Rumney, 45, of St Paul's Road in Hexham, has since been charged with fear of violence."

Rumney was due to appear before magistrates in Bedlington on Monday, February 3.
