A PRUDHOE family who were due to fly back from the city at the centre of the Coronavirus outbreak in China did not board the plane.

Jeff Siddle and his daughter Jasmine (9) were due to fly back from Wuhan on Thursday night as the British Government chartered a flight to evacuate around 200 British citizens.

However, Jeff and Jasmine decided not to board the flight, and instead stay with Jeff’s wife and Jasmine’s mother Sindy who was prevented from leaving the country by the Chinese Government because of her Chinese passport.

Jeff’s mother, Marjorie Siddle, said: “There was no way they could get Sindy on the plane. She was not even allowed to get in the car to the airport.

“They have no idea what’s going to happen now, but will continue to stay with Sindy’s mother in Hang To.”

It is believed around 83 British citizens were on the flight.

On Friday, the chief medical officer announced that two people have tested positive for Coronavirus in the UK and are receiving specialist NHS care.
