OFFICERS from the Environment Agency visited communities in Tynedale as part of their work for Flood Action Week.

Held last week, the officers looked at both the physical and mental effects of flooding on individuals, with figures showing damage caused by extreme weather could increase the chance of people facing mental health problems such as stress and depression by 50 per cent.

Environment Agency community engagement and field operations officers visited a number of local communities around the region including Acomb and Corbridge.

In Acomb, they visited volunteers from Acomb Flood Wardens Group to talk about the work being delivered in the village. And in Corbridge, the Environment Agency team met with flood survivor Mary Williams, of Corbridge Flood Action Group, who talked about the importance of raising awareness of flooding.
