AMBITIOUS plans for the redevelopment of a prominent site in Prudhoe have been well received.

Prudhoe Community Partnership held two consultation events in the town to allow the public to have their say on a £2m project to build a new youth centre on the site of the East Centre on front street.

The partnership’s chairman, George Hepburn, said responses were overwhelmingly positive.

Mr Hepburn said: “We are very grateful to everyone who took the trouble to view the plans.

“Seventy five per cent were in favour of the new building and made good suggestions which we can take on board. We will do more work on the details of our plans and will be consulting again later in the year.”

“The Partnership believes young people in Prudhoe deserve the best possible facilities to develop their skills and ambitions and hope to provide these in an exciting new development at East Centre.”
