A QUIRKY shop which has made an impression on a national television presenter is due to appear on screens tonight.

RE in Corbridge, which sells unusual and recycled homeware, has become a firm favourite with Kirstie Allsopp, who has presented a host of property-related television programmes.

During filming for her latest Channel 4 series with co-host Phil Spencer, Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It, they paid a visit to RE which will appear in one of the episodes.

Simon Young, who owns the business with Jenny Vaughan, said: “Kirstie is a customer of ours.

“She bought decorations for her Christmas show, Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas.

“She is familiar with us and has ordered from us before.

“They got in touch because they were filming a couple up in Cullercoats for Love It Or List It. They asked was it possible to bring the couple and do some filming.”

Each episode of the programme sees homeowners faced with various options to help them decide whether to stay in their current home and renovate it, or sell the house.

The new season started last week and Simon said the episode they featured on was due to air on Wednesday at 8pm.

“They spent the whole afternoon here in autumn with the couple looking around the shop,” he said.

“It’s lovely that they thought of us and they said they don’t often film in shops.

“It’s mostly filming at the property, but they said on the occasions they have shot in stores they have had quite a good response from their audiences.

“I think they chose us because it’s quite an unusual shop.

“Kirstie personally loves the shop. She and the crew did personal shopping while they were here too.”

Although the crew spent a whole afternoon filming, Simon was unsure of how much in the shop would be shown, so it wasn’t possible to know whether it would be good publicity for the business.

“Even if it didn’t boost business for us, it was really exciting and it’s really special just that they chose to come here,” he said.

“Kirstie did say to the couple that there aren’t many places you would find such fantastic products available displayed in such a special way, which was really nice to hear.”
