Ponteland Memorial Hall will be part of a national campaign which celebrates England’s 10,000 village halls.

Celebrating in style, the hall in Ponteland will have a free open day on Wednesday, January 22 from 10am until midday to showcase the venue, its activities and facilities.

The hall’s chairman Robin Ramsay said: “Ponteland Memorial Hall is a huge part of our community. It was opened in 1922 and has provided a hub for Ponteland ever since.

“It plays host to social gatherings including birthday parties, wedding celebrations and wakes, as well as a variety of leisure activities and many clubs. Such events would not happen in Ponteland if we didn’t have our hall and dedicated volunteers who keep it going.”

Village Halls Week, run by Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) will take place from January 20 to 26.
