POLICE have confirmed a man was stabbed in Prudhoe on New Year's Day.

The Great North Air Ambulance landed at Eastwoods Park, Prudhoe, on Wednesday after a disturbance at Bradley Road at around 3.40pm.

Air Ambulance crew treated the injured man at the scene and he was taken to hospital by road.

A spokeswoman from Northumbria Police said: “A man was taken to hospital but his condition is not described as life threatening.

“A 32-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

“We want to reassure the public that this does not appear to be a random attack and that those involved are all known to each other.”
