A man was arrested in Hexham for carrying a machete
A MAN was arrested on New Year's Eve for carrying a machete in the centre of Hexham.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "At 10.46 pm on New Year's Eve, we received a report of a man carrying a machete outside the Hexham Wetherspoon pub, the Forum, on Market Place.
"The man, who had been in a fight earlier that night and was suffering a cut to the head, was arrested for knife possession and taken to hospital before being taken into custody."
