A BABY otter is being nursed back to full strength after being found cold and alone on the banks of the River Tyne.
The animal was found by concerned members of the public at Hexham on December 23 and taken to nearby vets Scott Mitchell and Associates. It was then referred to Blyth Wildlife Rescue for a rewilding process.
When found, the otter was cold, scared and dehydrated.
Blyth Wildlife Rescue founder John Anderson said: “It will remain in the capable hands of my mother and she is the lone carer as it is in isolation to reduce any chance of imprinting.
“It is already starting to get bitey and that is a good way of showing we have maintained the wildness in the animal.”
