NEARLY a year after its closure, a popular pub is set to reopen.

The Tap and Spile on Battle Hill, in Hexham, closed in February with tenants Keith and Yvonne Youngs blaming high rates for the closure.

A sign from landlords EI Public Partnerships has appeared on the building in recent weeks asking for potential tenants to get in touch as the brewery aims to bring the pub back into use.

A spokesman for EI Publican Partnerships said: “We’re currently seeking a new tenant for the Tap and Spile and we are confident that we will be able to update the local community very soon.

“But in the meantime, we would like to reassure customers that we plan to reopen the pub and look forward to welcoming guests as soon as possible in the new year.”

Also in Hexham, Admiral Taverns is seeking a tenant to oversee a £250,000 refit of Coach and Horses.
