A ROAD has been closed throughout December while repairs take place to repair damage from heavy vehicles.
Northumberland County Council has been repairing damage to Leazes Lane, which becomes Milkwell Lane in Corbridge, after traffic accessing a new housing development had caused damage to the road.
Miller Homes and Bellway are in the process of building 181 new homes off Milkwell Lane, next to Corbridge Middle School.
A spokeswoman for Northumberland County Council said the road had been damaged by heavy traffic accessing the development site.
“The council has been in direct contact with the developer and it is currently carrying out emergency repairs,” she said.
“The council is also costing a permanent repair scheme that will be completed early in the New Year and the cost of these repairs will be funded by the developer.”
The repair work is due to be completed by December 31.
