PUPILS from two Tynedale schools took part in random acts of kindness to spread Christmas cheer last week.

Greenhead Primary School pupils travelled to Hexham by train on Thursday, sharing heart shaped biscuits with fellow passengers.

The schoolchildren then headed to Hexham Market Place to sing Christmas carols, and raised £200 for the West Northumberland Foodbank.

On Tuesday, pupils from Henshaw Primary School visited Bardon Mill Village Hall to sing to elderly members of the community on their annual Christmas dinner day.

The pupils then spent time with the local residents and handed out handmade biscuits.

Executive headteacher at Greenhead and Henshaw Primary School, Sarah Hutchinson, said the school had been inundated with positive messages from the public after their two days of charitable work.
