A PUPIL at a Prudhoe school has won a national story-telling competition.
Tommy Hutchinson, a Year 3 student at Prudhoe West Academy, won ITV’s Signed Stories competition for his short story, Emelie and Maggie’s Holiday.
The judging panel was impressed by the youngster’s strong sense of creativity and his illustrations. His creation has now been transformed into a Signed Story and is presented in British Sign Language with subtitles, music, and voiceover.
Tommy also received £500 worth of book tokens for his school.
Headteacher Michelle Brewster said: “All the school were proud of Tommy. He loves writing.
“We watched the video and the children were in awe of the fact that something one of their classmates had written had been made into an video for the whole world to see.
“It’s inspired the other children to write.”
