CROWDS gathered in Hexham to count down to the big switch on of the town's Christmas lights.
The town's switch-on event on Friday included live music, a balloon entertainer,hot chocolate, a candlelit service and a Festival of Flame in Hexham Abbey.
Santa met children before he switched on the lights in the Market Place.
