A FARMER has been fined for driving without due care and attention.John Pennell (80), of Hayring Farm, Nenthead, was fined £307 for his actions on the B6295 Thornley Gate crossroads, in Allendale, on April 15.

At South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court last Thursday, he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Pennell was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85, and his driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

A MOTORIST will stand trial next month accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Colin Gradwell (47), of Orchard Avenue, Acomb, appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court last Thursday to answer the charge.

It is alleged Gradwell caused serious injury by driving dangerously on the A69 at Bridge End, in Hexham, on November 30 last year.

His case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court on December 19.

A MAN has been sentenced after admitting causing a woman alarm and distress.

Jordan Glaister (24), of Whiteburn, Prudhoe, pleaded guilty at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court last Thursday to causing harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

The court heard Glaister committed the act in Prudhoe on September 17.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £21.

A TEENAGE driver has been fined after driving carelessly on the Military Road.

Charles Elliott (18), of Loweswood Close, Jesmond Dene, was ordered to pay a fine of £300 and banned from driving for six months after appearing at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving.

The court heard Elliott committed the offence on the Military Road near Rudchester on April 22.
