A TYNEDALE charity is calling on the help of a former Newcastle United and Sunderland footballer with its expansion.

Bryan ‘Pop’ Robson, who also played for West Ham United, Chelsea and Carlisle United, will officially open the Tynedale Hospice at Home charity shop in Prudhoe at 11am next Thursday.

Robson, who grew up in Prudhoe and now lives in Hexham, is a big supporter of the charity.

Mike Thornicroft, the charity’s chief executive, said “We have been overwhelmed with the support from community groups, local businesses and volunteers.

“We hope that as many people can join us for the grand opening to celebrate Tynedale Hospice at Home’s presence on Prudhoe high street and the benefits this will bring to providing care to families in our community.”

The charity is currently recruiting volunteers to work in the new shop. Those interested in helping out should contact Lucy Weeks on (01434) 606444 or lucy@tynedalehospice.com
