LOCAL people have transformed themselves into famous duos for a humourous charity calendar.

Ovingham-based SSFitness, led by business owner and personal trainer, Diane Shane-Stone, has created a calendar in aid of brain tumour research.

It’s the third time Diane has organised the calendar in aid of a cause that’s close to her heart.

Her father Michael Shane, died in April, 2016 after suffering an aggressive Glioblastoma Multiforme tumour.

Diane said: “Three years ago I set a target of £10,000 after my dad died from a brain tumour.

“We actually raised £11,000.

“Since we started doing the calendar, there’s been so many people come forward to say they’ve been affected by brain tumours in one way or another.”

This year’s theme is famous duos, with participants taking on the personas of the Queen and Prince Phillip, Wham and Ab Fab’s Patsy and Edina.

The team took a break last year, but Diane said people had been eagerly awaiting the calendar’s return.

She continued: “We’ve had a year off while I did a masters degree, but now we’re back.

“We had a photoshoot in Hexham last week and all the photos are great.

“We put a lot of work into it.

“Local businesses sponsor a page which helps us pay for printing costs.”

The calendars will go on sale on December 1, and will be available from Diane directly or from various retail outlets in Prudhoe.
