BREAD baked at a Darras Hall Bakery has been hailed as some of the best in the world.
A white tin loaf, baked by John Lognonne from Davidson of Darras Hall, won a gold award at the World Bread Awards, coming second in the Great British White Category.
The bakery’s crusty cob received a bronze award in the same category.
A former security guard, John was quick to praise the owner of the bakery, Trevor Davidson.
John said: “Trevor has been here since 1994, but he’s never entered. I was pushed to enter by my girlfriend to see what would happen.
“I had the easy job of baking the bread, but it’s Trevor’s recipe. It’s a fantastic achievement and it’s been a great career change!”
