A WOMAN was taken to hospital in Cramlington after she was cut free from an overturned car.

Police said the white Volkwagen Golf rolled onto its roof after colliding with a bollard on Prudhoe Front Street at just before 3pm on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Prudhoe used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the casualty, with the help of colleagues from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service."
