A CYCLIST who biked around the world unsupported in 124 days is coming to Tynedale as part of a fund-raising drive.
Jenny Graham, who became the fastest woman to cycle round the world last year, will deliver a talk at the Queen’s Hall, Hexham to raise money for the publication of a new map created by the Tyne Valley MTB Cycling.
The map details the Border Reivers Cycle Routes, a brace of signed, and way-marked cycle routes between the North Sea and the Irish Sea.
Ted Liddle, a voluntary organiser at the group, said that the new map showed a route suitable for the new breed of gravel and cross bikes, which can travel both on-road and off-road with ease.
He said: “It’s a labour of love. We’re all volunteers, so we’re raising money and we’re looking for sponsors.” All proceeds from the event will go towards the project.
