AN NHS physiotherapist is bringing her expertise to homes across the Tyne Valley with the introduction of her own private service.

Chartered physiotherapist Eileen Davidson, who has 20 years of experience in muscular skeletal and domiciliary physiotherapy, has launched Home Physio 2 You.

She will be delivering the service at people’s homes across the district, in addition to her part-time work with the NHS.

“I see this as a way to allow me to work more flexibly and to be able to compliment the service that is already provided by the NHS,” she explained.

“There are lots of private physiotherapists around but I don’t think many do home visits.

“Being able to be in the privacy of their own home is something which some people prefer. Some people – often the elderly – can find it difficult to come out for physiotherapy too.

“The NHS does offer a domiciliary service but I think this is just a way to give people more choice.

“For example, it can work if some people want some extra physiotherapy on top of what they are receiving on the NHS.”

Eileen offers treatment to those aged 18 and over, and she travels within 25 miles outside of Hexham for no additional charge.

She provides services for musculo-skeletal problems, post orthopaedic trauma and surgery rehabilitation, acupuncture, balance and falls prevention, exercise programmes and mobility assessments.

Tailored exercise programmes can even be accessed on an app.

Eileen explained that she is able to provide the professional service from home using a portable treatment couch for examinations, which is adjustable.

“This is a holistic approach for people who want to stay within their home environment,” she said.

“It’s also a personal one-to-one service where there is the opportunity to build a relationship.”
