A BUILDING society will open the doors to its bigger premises next week.

Newcastle Building Society has moved down the road into the former Dickinson’s store on Beaumont Street in Hexham, and will operate from its new base from Monday.

The move was part of the building society’s ongoing multi-million-pound branch network investment programme.

The purpose of the expansion was to provide easier access to the organisation’s services, information and advice, as well as creating a community space which will allow local people, groups and good causes to hold meetings free of charge.

Stuart Miller, customer director at Newcastle Building Society, said: “There’s been a great deal of interest from local people about what we’ve been doing as work has progressed and we’re excited to finally be sharing the new branch with our Tynedale customers.

“We are continuing to invest heavily in maintaining and enhancing a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of our operations and remain firmly committed to contributing to the vitality of successful, sustainable local communities like Hexham.

“We’re moving into a fantastic landmark location in Hexham which has the Abbey just over the road and we’re extremely pleased to have been able to bring this important site back in to use.”
