THE latest rate of hospital admissions for young people due to self-harm was significantly higher in Northumberland than anywhere else in England.
A new report, entitled Mental Wealth, from the county’s director of public health, Liz Morgan, showed that 341 young people aged between 10 and 24 in Northumberland were admitted to hospital for self-harm incidents during 2017 and 2018.
That total represented a rate of 720.5 per 100,000 population, putting the county well above the average national rate of 421.2. Across the North-East, the rate was 458.
