Children at two Hexham schools were visited by members of the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) for a CPR workshop as part of the annual Restart a Heart Day.
The national campaign, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of CPR, saw children from St Mary’s First School and St Joseph’s Middle School learn how to perform the life-saving skill on Wednesday.
They also learned how to place a casualty in the recovery position in an emergency situation.
Headteacher at the two schools, Fiona Conley, said: “CPR is a vital skill the children should learn. The North East Ambulance Service was fantastic when delivering the training, especially considering it was across two schools and different ages.”
