POPPIES are beginning to appear on the clothes of people in Prudhoe after the town’s annual Poppy Appeal was launched.

Wednesday saw Irene and Jacqueline Davis, and Glenn McCann of the Prudhoe and District branch of the Royal British Legion, joined by county councillors, town councillors, and brownies to start selling iconic pins in honour of those who have served and sacrificed.

Irene said: “We made £28,200 this last year. We’ve got a good team.

“Sarah Eden, at the town council, is very good. I’d like to thank her for her help.”

As in previous years, Prudhoe will fall silent for the Remembrance Sunday Parade. On Sunday, November 10 the parade will assemble at 10.30am in the Legion car park. The procession will then march through Front Street to the Lynchgate war memorial at St Mary Magdalene Church.
