PEOPLE interested in forging a career at Tynedale’s largest employer are being invited to an apprentice open day.
Chipboard manufacturing plant Egger, which has a factory on Hexham’s Anick Road, will invite prospective apprentices to find out more about the industry in the open day on Thursday, November 7, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.
Over 10 per cent of the current workforce is, or has been, an apprentice, and the company invested £4m into a state-of-the-art training academy to assist with its commitment to allowing people to learn on the job.
Egger’s apprenticeship scheme has been running for the past 17 years and more than 85 individuals have completed the programme during that time.
People visiting the open day will have the opportunity to view the training facilities, meet current apprentices, training providers and Egger’s management team.
Tony Trueman, an apprentice laboratory technician, said: “Egger has provided me with the opportunity to work in an area I have always had a passion for. I am part of a caring and supportive team and everyone is very friendly.”
