A TYNE Valley hotel has given its bridal suite a £30,000 investment so lucky newlyweds can enjoy their first night of married bliss in luxury.

Already a popular choice for couples looking to tie the knot, Matfen Hall hotel in Matfen has unveiled its new bridal suite, which was created by Sunderland-based interior designers Space ID.

The inspiration behind the new design was to “modernise and enhance” the rooms with a light, bright and airy feel, whilst paying tribute to building’s historic past.

Working with the restored and ornate cornice and frieze architecture, the refurbishment aimed to amplify the original features of the room, which overlooks the hotel’s golf course and ornamental gardens.

At the centre of the transformation is the new almost seven-foot bed, complete with a upholstered buttoned headboard, to create a dramatic room feature.

New contemporary timber wardrobes and dressing table have been added, to fit in with the rooms new elegant style, the look of which is completed with the statement French vintage crystal chandelier.

The £30,000 boost comes after last year’s £250,000 refurbishment of the hotel’s other wedding spaces – the Great Hall, Terrace Room and St Edward’s Bar.

Victoria Paterson, sales and revenue manager at Matfen Hall, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the new bridal suite and have been really excited to show it to couples who have chosen Matfen Hall for their special day as well as those who are just starting to make plans for their wedding.

“We couldn’t be happier with the transformation, which makes the absolute most of the hotel’s historic features while bringing this special space up to date in 21st century style.”

Couples can see the transformation for themselves at Matfen Hall’s upcoming open day/evening events which take place on Wednesday, October 9 from 5pm to 8pm and Sunday, December 8 from 11am to 12pm.
