EMPLOYEES at one of the Tyne Valley’s largest businesses have raised thousands of pounds for charity.

More than 650 guests attended an event at Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham to mark the 35th anniversary of the Egger plant in Hexham on September 7.

A raffle was held during the celebration in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service, with ticket sales from the generous crowd raising £4,230 for the charity.

Bob Livesey, commercial director of the Western Europe Division, said “Many of our employees have personal experience of the wonderful service that the Great North Air Ambulance provides.

“We are thrilled to be donating £4,230 to this fantastic charity.”

Egger purchased the Hexham plant from Weyroc in 1984.
