CHILDREN at Greenhead Primary School celebrated their reading success with the visit of an award-winning author.
The school were successful in the Rising Stars Reading Planet challenge, which brought children’s author Gareth P Jones to the school after an application process.
Executive headteacher, Sarah Hutchinson, said: “As part of the bid, the school outlined how reading had formed a key part of the curriculum, as well as the introduction of our reading dog, Hallie. The programme recognised our bid as the best in the North-West of the country.”
Before the author’s visit, children were required to research and read the works of Gareth P Jones to help form part of the day’s activities.
Gareth P Jones added: “I led some writing workshops with the children, which allowed them to combine some of the themes from my books into their own creative writing”
