Hexham’s MP Guy Opperman is preparing for the annual Tynedale Jobs Fair at the Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham on October 18.

Due to take place between 10am and 3pm, the event will be jointly hosted with the team from Hexham Jobcentre and sponsored by Egger.

More than 50 employers from a range of sectors will be on hand, including Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Northumbria Police, The Army, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust and Helping Hands.

The fair is aimed at anyone who may be looking for work, a change in career or to return to work following a break from employment.

Chris Howard from Hexham Jobcentre said: “This is the sixth year that the local Jobcentre has co-ordinated and supported the event. It is a fantastic opportunity for our clients to meet employers, discuss recruitment opportunities and gain access to a variety of jobs. Last year several people were offered jobs on the day.”

Mr Opperman said: “I am delighted that this year the Tynedale Jobs Fair is sponsored by Egger, the single biggest private sector employer in the Tyne Valley. Its fantastic support, as well as the continued dedication from Chris Howard’s team at the Jobcentre, really will make this the biggest and best Jobs Fair yet.”
